\nNobu Doha marks the second partnership between chef Nobuyuki “Nobu” Matsuhisa and luxury hospitality brand Four Seasons following the successful launch of Nobu Lanai in 2012 at Four Seasons Resort Lanai in Hawaii.
\nThe 26,000-foot\u00b2 restaurant is the largest of its kind in the brand’s global portfolio, offering a 192-seat indoor dining area, a cozy 10-seat sushi counter, two exclusive private dining rooms, and a one-of-a-kind restaurant. Hall on the roof for 82 seats.
\nElliptical streams of river stone topped with bronze inlays form the exterior of Nobu Doha, resembling a spiral shell and creating the restaurant’s three-tiered levels.
\nVisible through the spiral exterior are the bronze slats framing the window system and the multi-level, open-air basalt tower at the core of the building, piercing each floor of the building.
\nA reflecting pool surrounds the perimeter of the building, highlighting the connection to the unique waterfront site. At night, elaborate lighting illuminates the distinct and exquisitely complex shapes of the building.
\nThe dining experience at Nobu begins with the re-landscape and illumination of the existing seawall as guests drive dramatically from the Four Seasons Hotel Doha to the restaurant. Crossing the bridge over a reflecting moat with a pool, guests find themselves under the wide cantilever of the building above, in the courtyard at the entrance, which resembles elements of a Japanese garden.
\nThe central place in the composition is occupied by an atrium lined with bronze and an outstanding stone waterfall, which sets the mood of the restaurant.
\nA giant suspended installation invites guests to a monumental arched wooden staircase. Formed from hundreds of iridescent pieces of porcelain that resemble fish scales, it was created exclusively for Nobu Doha by Canadian artist Pascal Girardin.
\nOn the second level is a lofty, double-height main dining room framed in custom-made abaca woven panels by Filipino artist Ken Cobonpyu. Throughout the space, there are end-to-end wooden floors, columns clad in white sea shells, and a field of spherical glass lamps in various sizes, custom-made by Canadian artist Ken Gangbar. Seating in the main dining room extends out to a spacious terrace with expansive harbor views.
\nThis level also boasts a White Pearl bar with an oval bar and a complementary canopy made of alabaster with bronze inlays. The canopy is filled with a collection of custom-made pearl-shaped light fixtures, also created by Ken Gangbar, while the back of the bar features antique mirror and bronze accents. Serpentine banquettes and white granite floors create a casual yet elegant space for drinking and dining.
\nClimbing up the spiral staircase to the highest level, guests can enjoy an impressive outdoor lounge with breathtaking views of Doha’s skyline, the Corniche and the harbour.
\nCustom sculpted resin canopies by Kenneth Cobonpue and custom ball-shaped floor lighting create a sense of intimacy on each of this evening’s multi-level platforms.
\nRooftop guests also have access to the Black Pearl bar opposite the White Pearl bar downstairs, with the same materials but in darker tones.
