Description
Status restaurant overlooking the Cathedral of Christ the Savior. Vanil opened in the summer of 2001 and is known at least by the names of its owners: restaurateur Arkady Novikov, businessman Stepan Mikhalkov and actor Fyodor Bondarchuk. During its work, many Russian and foreign stars have visited here, among them the actress Gina Lollobrigida and the football player Ronaldo.
For many years, Vanilla's cuisine has been led by Michelin-starred French chef Kamel Benmamar. During this period, French gastronomy was the strongest section. Since 2017, young Russian chef Alexei Belikov has been in charge of food. His style is a delicate handling of the natural taste of products and experiments on the theme of European cuisine. The main menu of the Vanilla restaurant is dominated by Italian motives with pasta, risotto, a variety of vegetables and seafood. In the kitchen, great attention is paid to meat, various types are presented here: rabbit fillet, venison, dairy goat, veal ... In parallel, there is a separate Japanese menu, which includes classic rolls, sushi, sashimi and gunkans. From early morning until noon, the restaurant offers an impressive European-style breakfast menu.
The interior of the Vanilla restaurant can be described as an elegant loft. Graceful chandeliers here side by side with shabby leather armchairs, and purposely aged walls - with strict chairs. A large bright space is framed by display windows and huge mirrors. In summer, a beautiful panorama of Ostozhenka and the Cathedral of Christ the Savior opens from the veranda.
